Welney Birds on Beautiful Crisp morning

The water levels are still fairly low at Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Reserve so abundant waders, mainly Black-tailed Godwits and dabbling ducks (Widgeon) in front of the main hide. A very obliging Kestrel hunted in front of the hide for a time. From the Lyle hide everything was pretty distant but good to see Great White Egret, Curlew, pair of Marsh Harriers, Dunlin and Stonechat. Whooper Swans in evidence but not much flying in the very strong winds.

Infrared at Waddesdon

Although the quality of the images from the Sony RX100 isn't top rate as regards detail etc, it is great to be able to have it in the pocket as certain scenes work so well in infrared eg. the skies,  the shrouded statues and the topiary trees. As well as recording a RAW image used here for the monochromes, I also record a jpeg set to warm profile and, occasionally, as with the last two trees, I get a very interesting result.

OneTask Completed

Each year, it seems to take longer to complete my yearly diaries but glad to say I now have 2016 in my hand safely delivered from Blurb. For those who keep a Blog or have their images on FlikR or Facebook, consider putting them into a diary format as I do - it is great to look back. I have books going back to 2007.

Waddesdon Manor - Imaginarium

Imaginarium is a  light and sound show projected onto the Manor created by the Guildhall School. It is a visual representation of the story of Waddesdon and its owners' obsession with wildlife. It brought back fond memories of Miriam Rothschild in the Zoology Department in Cambridge.

Waddesdon Manor - An Enchanted Menagerie

In the afternoon on Friday, we took a tour of the interior of the house, which has been decorated with an animal theme using some amazing constructions and coloured lighting. Barry is sporting a very trendy new fleece for the occasion and, as usual, I got captivated by the staircase which had very 'mixed' lighting sources no way of setting the white balance!

Exteriors and sunset at Waddesdon Manor

Yesterday 14 CCC members invaded Waddesdon Manor, National Trust for their Christmas lights show. We arrived in time for some shots of the exterior before lunch and our interior tour (images to follow). We were treated to a wonderful sunset before the floodlights came on in the trees.
