Guernsey - Light Painting on Cobo Beach

Guernsey visitors and residents must have wondered what was happening on Friday night as strange creatures roamed around the beach - some looking like giant millipedes, others with enormous eyes. Add to that around 10 photographers with tripods doing a slow backwards walk as the tide came in and one man wearing a very swirly skirt!

Guernsey - Sunset on Cobo Bay

These images are in chronological order and all adjusted to the same camera profile and temperature/tint. Interesting to see the changes in colour according to position of sun, time of day and for the fourth image the camera and lens used (this is XT1 and 10-24mm; others XT2 with 50-140mm)

Guernsey - Vazon Beach, Dogs, Photographers and Surfers

A beautiful sunny afternoon to visit Vazon Beach - not enough wind for good surfing but a bit of activity and lots of dogs (Golden Retriever pic for Matt and Ellie). We walked to the beach from Cobo (penultimate image - our hotel is second large building from the right) passing Fort Hommet.

Guernsey - Moulin Huet

Friday was one of my favourite locations but one that is so difficult to photograph because of the direction of light and the dark rocks. It was where Renoir painted many images including Moulin Huet Bay.

Guernsey - Castle Cornet

On Thursday afternoon, we had a very interesting tour from Steve around Castle Cornet, which has a 800-year history, culminating in the building of a Cold War retreat in the centre of the Citadel.  We also spent a bit of time on the beach under the causeway and I was delighted to find Anemonia viridis, Snakelocks Anemone, with their fluorescent green tentacles tipped with purple sting cells. All but first two taken with the Sony rx100 IR camera either converted to b/w or left with in colour.
